All of our Simpson Strong-Tie Connectors are made from 316 grade Stainless Steel for maximum corrosion resistance. Stainless Hangers and Connectors hold up well to the elements and are recommended for marine adjacent environments and locations where salt is applied during winter months.

Carriage Bolts - 18-8SS & 316SS

Our stainless steel carriage bolts are available in both 18-8 and 316 stainless steel. (Use 316SS for salt water exposure).

Carriage Bolts have a square shoulder under a round or domed head, without a drive, and are used with a nut and washer.

The shoulder of the carriage bolt pulls into the wood when tightening and prevents the bolt from turning.

Bolt length is measured starting under the head and finishing at the tip of the bolt. Carriage bolt lengths of 4" and shorter are fully threaded.

Depending upon the manufacturer, stainless steel carriage bolts over 4" may be fully threaded or have a smooth 2" or more between the head and beginning of threading.

Hex Cap Bolts (Screws) - 18-8SS & 316SS

Stainless steel hex cap screws - also referred to as hex cap bolts - have a smooth body with threading on the end.

Thread length of cap screws is generally twice the diameter of the shank plus 1/4" for lengths up to 6" and twice the diameter plus 1/2" for lengths over 6".

Some hex caps may have an additional 1/4" to 1/2" of threading depending on the manufacturer.

Hex cap screws are normally installed with two flat washers and a hex nut.

Available in both 18-8 & 316 stainless steel.

Lag Screws - 18-8SS & 316SS

Lag Screws - sometimes called lag bolts - have a hex head, a gimlet or cone point, and a thin, sharp, coarse pitched thread. They are designed for insertion into wood and produce their own mating thread. Threading is usually 60% to 67% of the lag screw length.

Length is measured from under the head to the tip of the screw. Lag bolts are installed with a washer.

Available in both 18-8 & 316 stainless steel.

Washers & Nuts 18-8SS & 316SS

Stainless steel nuts and washers.

Our stainless steel nuts and washers pair with our collection of bolts and threaded rod. Available in 18-8 and Salt Water Safe Type 316 stainless steel. We have stainless steel washers and nuts available in diameters up to 1".
Stainless Steel Threaded Rod

Our stainless steel fully threaded rod is available in two grades: 18-8 stainless steel or 316 stainless steel. We stock fully threaded rods, also known as all thread, in 3 foot lengths, in most diameters.

Threaded rods are used as fasteners, where an assembly needs stability, or the ability to withstand high levels of tension and pressure.

Rods can be cut to length using a diamond or carborundum blade. They can be bent to make a U-bolt or used as an anchor bolt. Connect multiple threaded rods together with coupling nuts, available in 18-8 stainless steel and 316 stainless in matching diameters.

We can also supply 6 foot lengths in most diameters.
Is it highly recommended to use anti-seize compound or lubricant like WD-40 when working with any stainless steel threaded bolt or rod to prevent thread seizing.
