Did the job

I like these, though I would have preferred larger holes, as I wanted to use #10 screws. They are in pairs of left and right and work just fine.
Owner Response: Thanks for your review. Please note that Simpson's warranty is only valid for the installation of these ties using nails. That's why the holes are the size they are.
Stainless Steel Joist hangers and Hurricane Ties
Oct 14, 2021 | By Dennis Stoecklin

I'm just a homeowner and installed stainless steel joist hangers and Hurricane &Seismic ties on our deck of our beach house near the pacific Ocean. This was something pointed out on a recent home inspection. The joist hangers worked perfectly. The Hurricane ties were fine but you shipped all 2 1/2 " nails. These were fine nailing into a 4x6 support beam but were too long when attaching the ties to a 2x8 joist that is oly 1 1/2 " thick. I was able to locate some stainless steel screws from a local hardware store to finish the job.
Owner Response: Hi Dennis-
Thanks for your thoughtful feedback. I'm glad the joist hangers are working out perfectly for you. To address the nails issue, there are a few things at work here. The 2-1/2" nail is the one officially recommended by Simpson for installation. However, as you mention, there are some circumstances where an 1-1/2" nail is appropriate. The shorter nail can be used when going directly into dimensional lumber rather than into sheathing. Know that you can always reach out to us when there are special circumstances and/or request mixed nails at the time of your order. We are happy to accommodate and are also available to chat with you about a job to make sure you get the right fasteners for the project at hand. Thanks again for your experience and we will make sure to indicate above that mixed nails are available by request.
